Look at the content on your website. Now, look at it with a fresh set of eyes. How does it look? Are there grammatical mistakes? How long is it? Here are some of the things that you should see in your website’s written content. If you don’t see these three things, then maybe you should think about redoing it.
- Short Paragraphs – The first thing that you should see is short paragraphs. Why? Because people who are on the Internet aren’t interested in reading an epistle. They want to get the information that they are looking for quickly without reading a whole lot of other stuff. A good length is generally about 500 words for an article.
- Bullet Points – The second thing that you should see is bullet points in your content. This is because the bullet points are the main points that you want to make in your article, the important things that you want the visitors to read. If you don’t offset them by bullet points or even by numbers, then they won’t see them because they aren’t really standing out for them to see.
- Laymen’s Terms – The third thing that you should see is laymen’s terms. You may know what you are talking about but your visitors may not know and you are simply going to make them feel dumb and frustrated. If you must use technical terms, offer them a glossary so that they don’t have to go off the page to find out the definitions and they know that you were thinking of them.
These are three tips that you should use when you are constructing content for your website. Content is important, but only if it’s something that the visitor wants to read and can read. Otherwise, it’s not going to do you or them any good at all.
